Dr. Amanda Shipley has been a physical therapist for more than 22 years. Her first five years were in outpatient orthopaedics exclusively and then she transitioned into pelvic health and has been focusing on pelvic rehabilitation since 2007. After coming off maternity leave she decided to follow her dream of opening her own practice and helping people to not only address pelvic floor dysfunction but also to prevent it. Dr. Shipley is passionate about treating the whole person and not just their symptoms. She fosters wellness by encouraging good nutrition, stress management, and patient education as an integral part of empowering all her patients. Originally from Connecticut, Dr. Shipley lives in Atlanta with her husband and two daughters, and enjoys playing soccer, coloring, and reading. Dr. Shipley received her Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. She then obtained her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, where she was recognized with the Clinical Education Award for superior clinical abilities. Dr. Shipley achieved her Manual Therapy Certification (MTC) from the University of St. Augustine in 2008. She is currently a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) in the Pelvic Health section, the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia (PTAG), and the National Vulvodynia Association (NVA). Dr. Shipley is also a Health Coach through the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute for pregnancy and motherhood. She has presented and educated on pelvic health and pelvic floor physical therapy at various local events. She is founder and host of the podcast Kumbay’all: The Whole Woman’s Resource and co-founded Progressive Pelvic Education with her twin sister to offer a holistic homebirth prep program and online pelvic health courses.
