While my original field of study is art history and culture, I have always been interested in somatic practices like yoga, tai chi and qi gong. I'd been a community yoga teacher since 2009, volunteering primarily with refugees. When I discover SE in February of 2015, it opened up a whole new world of understanding the deep imprints of birth trauma, developmental trauma, shock trauma and collective trauma.
I completed my training with the international cohort in El Rompido, Spain in 2018 and started my private practice soon afterwards, while also becoming a member of the charitable initiative, Tool 4 Inner Peace, which reaches out to refugee camps and is dedicated to supporting young communities growing up in areas of poverty and conflict. Combining community work and private practice helps to make healing more accessible and I am very passionate about it.
I have found the capacity of subtle perception, resonance and regulation that SE offers to be profoundly transformative. It is a highly effective model in its own right, and a delicate refinement of all other therapeutic approaches. I'm honoured to be a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, an Assistant, a Provider and an Arabic translator of SE.
I continued to benefit from master classes with Peter Levine in Weggis and from further training in trauma-healing modalities like Bodynamics and NeuroAffective Touch as well as Eastern healing traditions including Jin Shin Jyitsu and Nourishing Harmony with Master Lee. My most recent training has been the Integrated Prenatal and Perinatal Dynamics course with Kate White and Lois Tresize at the Prenatal Perinatal Center.
