I have been a practicing family physician and a Reiki Practitioner for over 20 years and became a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in 2024. I found SE when I was navigating my own health crisis and struggling with burnout as a physician. Unfortunately, the health care system in the US is not structured with the health of the patients or the clinicians at the center and can actually be harmful. My medical training socialized me to place the care of the patient ahead of my own health and to ignore my body's own signals and needs. Learning SE has helped me to reconnect with my body and listen to and honor what it needs. This experience has also empowered me to try to help other physicians and healthcare workers prioritize their own self care which in turn assists them in better caring for patients. I have experience caring for patients of all ages, many with chronic health issues and most recently with eating disorders. While I am not offering to provide medical care in this setting, I can assist with many types of issues utilizing SE, Reiki, Mindful Self-Compassion, Heart Math and general health coaching. I believe in the innate ability of our bodies to heal and enjoy assisting others on their own healing journeys. MD, SEP
