Kara Daugherty

As a somatic psychotherapist, I work with adults to strengthen resilience, focusing on reducing and transforming suffering and symptoms caused by trauma, cumulative stress, and chronic illness. I guide and support my clients through a gentle, naturalistic process of connecting with and optimizing their innate capacity to recover, heal, learn, and thrive.

Somatic therapy views the body as a primary source of information about current relational and psychological functioning. This collaborative approach uses mindfulness to help clients understand how their thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and bodily responses are adaptations to their lived experiences, and to discover their own unique strategies for coping and healing.

I earned my MSW degree from Indiana University in 2004 and completed my Somatic Experiencing Training in 2022. Additional modalities I incorporate include polyvagal theory, embodied recovery, parts work, and attachment theory.
