Hello,
I am Jennifer. I have worked in the mental health field since 2001 and as the commercial tagline suggests: I know a thing or two, because I have seen a thing or two. Even though I treat each client through the lens of a "beginner's mind," my experience in the field has helped along the way. I have worked in Emergency Rooms, Hospital ICUs, Inpatient Psychiatric Facilities, Jails, Court Ordered Treatment, and several Academic Universities. In 2014 I opened my private practice, Be Here Now Mindfulness, LLC where I have intersected my training and understanding of trauma and meditation.
In addition to my private practice, I train healthcare professionals on the frontlines of care, in prevention of the deleterious effects of burnout and fatigue. I work collaboratively with Emory University's Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion Based Ethics, and am a certified instructor of CBCT® Compassion & Resiliency Training. Compassion meditation is a revolutionary method using analytical meditation to help benefit others without burning out.
I am an avid Bowen's System Theorist, and see individuals within the framework of their complex environments, often delivered to them without welcome. I also draw from the knee-deep research and training I have done in breath work and polyvagal theory to bring a full-bodied approach to helping individuals regulate their nervous systems.
