Gina Ross is Founder and President of the International Trauma-Healing Institute in the United States and in Israel and is the co-founder of the Israeli Trauma Center at Herzog Hospital in Jerusalem. She has specialized in trauma since 1990. A pioneer in understanding collective trauma, she currently is working with Middle Eastern societies and other groups to bring an understanding of the role of trauma in violence. She has developed The Ross Model: Working with the Collective Nervous System, a system for working at national and international levels that can be applied to preventing and healing collective trauma. An expert on the impact of trauma on individuals, communities and nations, she and her nonprofit institutes work to place the issue of collective trauma on the global agenda, developing resources and collaborating with organizations to further the healing of trauma at the community, national, and international levels. Gina is certified in the more innovative techniques of Somatic Experiencing® (SE®), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Thought Field Therapy (TFT), and Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), as well as other traditional methods. As a senior faculty member and trainer for the Somatic Experiencing® Training Institute, Gina has conducted trainings worldwide. She has provided psychological first aid after bombings in the Middle East and has led peace workshops. She is an international guest lecturer to various organizations, including the United Nations, and a guest commentator on many television and radio shows. Recently she presented her Ross Model: Working with Collective Trauma at the Fifth International Congress, Fields of Conflict – Fields of Wisdom in Wurzburg, Germany and at the International Peace Gathering, Hope Springs Institute, Cincinnati, OH, Gina chaired the Cross-Cultural Committee of the Los Angeles, California Association of Marriage, Family, and Child Therapists (MFCT) and serves a multi-cultural clientele from fifty different cultures in seven languages. She is the author of many articles and a series of books entitled Beyond the Trauma Vortex Into the Healing Vortex, guides that are written for the various social sectors that have the ability to exacerbate or heal trauma including the fields of medicine, psychology, education, the media, diplomats and NGOs, clergy, judiciary and a special guide for the public in English and in Hebrew.
