As a child, I was fascinated with the body. I thought I might grow up to be a doctor. In college I realized that I could not function well enough to make effective and coherent decisions after staying up all night. I also noticed that there were many incongruities in the medical system. It became obvious that Western Medicine was not going to be a good fit for me.
After a brief, yet grueling, stint working for a bank in NYC, I returned to my path as a healer. In 1990, I began my journey as a massage therapist. I moved to California to go tomassage school and graduated with a certificate as a Massage Therapist and Health Educator. I honed my skills working with people who had varied pains and injuries. My clients ranged from individuals suffering from the effects of severe head trauma, healthy individuals who just wanted to relax, individuals suffering from chronic pain and a variety of athletes, including century bicycle riders, and marathon runners, Olympic athletes, and weekend warriors. Having completed triathlons, marathons, and participated in many sports, both as a youth and an adult, I understand the athlete's mind.
In 2012 I discovered Myofascial Release Therapy. In one session I felt the connection of my body's fascia and understood the concept that pain in one area of the body results from dysfunction in another location. I have been studying with John Barnes, ever since, learning the power of this subtle yet profound work.
I have witnessed and felt the power of our body holding onto emotions, and find that there is a new freedom in the body when they are released. I sometimes tell clients that I am not afraid to make them cry, but it is not from the bodywork. It is from letting go of whatever they are stuck on. I am continuing to learn about the power of the mind to heal the body. Work with me and together we will discover the secrets within your body to set you free.
