Monika Gross

Monika Gross BFA, MSME/T, M.AmSAT, M.ATI is an internationally certified Alexander technique specialist with 40 years of experience. She is an active member of the American Congress for Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM), the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS), and Integrated Medicine for the Underserved (IM4US). She has presented her research on Alexander technique for people living with Parkinson’s disease and for family care partners at numerous international conferences, including ACRM, MDS, IM4US, Alzheimer’s Europe, and the Alzheimer’s Association. www.thepoiseproject.org/tpp-research



Since 2016, Monika has served as Executive Director of The Poise Project, a nonprofit with the mission of helping the public maintain poise, dignity, and personal growth throughout all stages and challenges of life using the principles of Alexander technique. We focus on removing barriers across broad socioeconomic groups by designing and delivering Alexander-based courses for target populations, and initiating research on the efficacy of AT-principle-based approaches. We also provide continuing education to industry professionals in Alexander technique cognitive embodiment interventions for a variety of ages and populations. We believe that along with reading, writing, and arithmetic, everyone should have access to somatic education by the age of 21. www.thepoiseproject.org
