Jay Foote

As a mental health therapist in private practice at Seva Counseling in Des Moines, Iowa, I approach mental health using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness techniques, and integrate a bottom-up perspective. Including the body in the therapy room has helped my clients better navigate life's struggles.

I am the founder and director of Alexander Technique Des Moines. I teach clients (16+) to calm their nervous systems, find more balance in their bodies, get out of their way, and better deal with anxiety, chronic pain, and other movement impediments.

I certified to teach with Ann Rodiger at the Balance Arts Center in New York City in 2013. I was a Senior Assistant Trainer until 2020. From 2018 to 2020, I served on the AmSAT Board of Directors.

I have also studied with Anthony Kingsley, Rebecca Kelly Brooks, Alex Murray, Jean-Louis Rodrigue, Alan Philps, Joe Armstrong, Eva Karzag, June Ekman, Jessica Wolfe, and Pedro de Alcantara.
